these are from Iran (yellow plates with arabic writing), Turkey & Tadjikistan (DegerTaj) and run just about everywhere.....the old 'tank' that looks like its the "Duel Truck" runs to Afghanistan....you can't really see in the photo but it has HUGE fuel tanks hanging off it

Bit of a contrast Richard between the last two and some of the earlier ones like the new white Volvo.

Suppose the old Gas guzzling Yank motors were ok in middle east when they had virtually free petrol and it was American oil co's developing the oil fields

When size matters

Here's some pics from today at an oil 'n gas expo in town. Got a v12 motor, 650 horses under the right foot a generous selection of 4 forward & 2 reverse gears and is apparently good for 124 tons

Don't know why they put the fowls house up on the back, the engine was underneath the cab

Those yankee trucks go better on diesel :-) and they're Iranian registered which would seem a contradiction in terms knowing how they hate each other.
They seem to have a legacy of them old trucks that they still keep running doing the miles across the deserts out here....the containers are likely to have come ashore at Banderabbas which is right down on the south coast of Iran, where they'd be heading is anyones guess....Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan... They also run a selection of Volvos (they have an assembly line there somewhere http://www.volvotrucks.com/trucks/ir...lvoiniran.aspx that used to make 6x4 F12, now FH12) Mercs, a few Scanias and these Chinese Howo things.....whereas the Turks seem to run mainly European style trucks (Dafs, MANs, etc) - MAN are/were producing them locally there - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MANA%C5%9E
