Re: Trax

Absolutely gobsmacked. A real loss to the industry and to many of us that knew him. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.

Re: Make sure your air con works

There was a few idiots on Facebook that were defending him. I had a bit of sympathy cos those cabs can be a bit of a sweatbox in the summer but as soon as I heard that he'd been on drugs, any...

Re: Would you do it all again.....

I think the only thing I'd change is the morning I took the bike out and smashed my leg. 3 months in plaster and lost my truck, the family home and within a couple of years, a 20 year marriage. ...

Re: Looking for drivers etc

5 years ago, we were still in recession. The last thing that was gonna happen was companies spending money to train. Especially when there were lots of experienced operators around with little or no...

Re: Who'd have thunk it? Hooky CSCS cards

This is the CSCS not CPCS that is under scrutiny here. Language shouldn't be a problem as you can take this touch screen test in any language you like. You can even have someone read it to you if you...

Re: Caterpillar Dozers and Scrapers

Go over to see Paul on your D6 at Ardley and you'll see a 30D working there. It belongs to Moore and there is a 30E that is Henry's.

Re: hitachi zx130/5 seat

1 seat breaking could be down to the operator but 2, sounds more like a design fault. As for none others breaking, anywhere in the world, I find that very hard to believe.

Re: The Wrecking Crew

Sounds like the sort of programme that makes an industry look good. Unlike the ones with Stobart and HE Services. Those 2 did nothing for transport and plant hire except make drivers and operators...

Re: Umbrella Companies II

I've always preferred PAYE but yes, you can earn a little bit more s/e but I think holiday pay and wet days and the suchlike can outweigh this. It call depends on the individual and their...

Re: Limited vs Partnership

Only experience I have of this is, my ex brother in law. He ran a groundworks firm with a friend of his. They started a Ltd company and they both worked for it as directors.

Exclamation Re: Umbrella Companies II

I'm being paid through one of these firms. In all honesty, I don't think you're any worse off than if you were paid direct from the agency. You need to do a bit of travelling to get your mileage...

Re: Caterpillar Dozers and Scrapers

I can understand the reason for it, 100mm to deep on a road job or a warehouse unit such as I'm on now, will equate to a lot more stone fill. Willowbrook are using it on their dozers on the site I'm...

Re: Caterpillar Dozers and Scrapers

I know very little about the likes of trimble and what I've heard is a bit mixed. I've been told that the trimble is connected to the blade on dozers and all the op has to do is run backwards and...

Re: Finance.

I think in any business where you're working for someone else, which sums up all business, there is a risk of non payment. The same goes for your suppliers, if you don't get paid, you can't pay out....

Re: Finding lads

It seems to me that young lads that are just starting out, want to earn the same money as an experienced fella. They don't seem to understand that top money comes with earning it and not standing...

Re: Caterpillar Dozers and Scrapers

Which is understandable as they aren't paying to be a training school. I think that now NPORS is becoming more widely accepted, more ops may take the dozer ticket through them. I'm thinking about it...

Re: Caterpillar Dozers and Scrapers

Trouble is young lads and even us older lads can't afford to get the ticket for them. As for getting the experience, no chance. Companies don't want to pay good money to hire a dozer and op and get...
