Default Radiator recore,plastic top?

Can plastic top and bottom radiators be recored?

Loadall rad has started leaking at bottom,it's mostly eaten away no damage,£430 for a new one is best price I can find.

I fitted a new one for a chap last year, same dilemma. As it was a machine he needed every day to feed his cows he bit the bullet and went for new. In theory a new core could be bonded to the tanks again (in theory you can also plant a feather and grow your own hen) but there's very little left when you remove the core and the plastic will inevitably get stressed a bit during dismantling plus it's going to be aged and brittle going forward. My advice is unless you are a dealer moving the machine on go new, the day in the future you're sitting with a seized engine that radiator will have looked good value for money. We asked a local radiator repair service about it and he didn't want to recore it for the reasons outlined above despite having made us numerous radiators from scratch in the past so his advice was good enough for us. Ironically the plastic tanks are a performance downgrade as they don't radiate additional the heat the way metal ones would but they cost the bean counters a fraction of the cost of a metal tank so you got plastic then. New design is always primarily aimed at increasing margin not product performance. I suspect a complete radiator costs JCB in around the £100 mark.

Worth trying K seal, it is really good stuff. Used it a lot on Landroverís and it always sorted out the leaks.

Usual thing with age the ally has gone powdered,I'd prefer a new rad with ally top and bottom, not keen on plastic had one split on a tractor last week.

Took radiator in today and chap said it was going to cost the same to repair as new,he did find me a better price on a new one though.

£395 compared to £430,only downside is I need to collect it.

can you not get it collected by a carrier or parcel collection service Boyo

this lot collected my fuel transfer pump for me most recently and have used 'em quite a bit in the past.
