Hello aiden. Yip were busy at the min. everything is out at the minute except a couple of dumpers. Wouldnt have been much happenin around here on saturday i was away in sligo for the weekend. Call in some evening your goin past for a chat. Aw hughie i'l keep you in chat for an hour or two.

When i was looking out that mag with the dumptruck in it for you i came across another artical might intrest you. This modification was done by another tyrone man Pat Donnelly of carrickmore. He mounted a stone cart on the back of a 130 for a pomeroy contractor Edmund Quinn??.

Headline says (Backfilling within one traffic lane) How do you lay a water main along the main derry to belfast road without haven to close one lane of traffic

It says a hopper on the rear of the digger is kept filled by a loader running along the verge. A conveyor beneath the digger conveys the fill to the front where it discharges straight into the trench.

Jimbo that's a novel way of ballasting a trench...... we're all into zero swings in the UK, not myself i hasten to add...... They wouldn't be able to handle that hopper swingin round...

Hey trax. I think the hopper is mounted to the undercarage someway. So i think it must sit there alowing the digger to still swing around

Well the weather here has got worse. The weekend was a complete wash out. torental rain from friday to the day. Really doesnt make our work any easier but we got bits and pieces done inbetween the showers. Heres a few pictures. And a wee suprise that arrived into the yard dis evening. But shes nly a demo machine and even thow shes not the proper colour i reckon it looks the part. We have a we job coming up near the enda the week so we'l get her dirtied abit then and i'l let you's know the verdict.

Strott it's the curved engine that brings the costs up....
Jimbo, I didn't think about the hopper, makes sense to be mounted on the lower frame and not swingin on the arse.
That little bobcat seems to have a good reach.

Hey Trax yip i was suprised with the reach. she has the same reach as our 3ton hitachi. Took a we run in her this evening. And i was impressed. But visability out the front was crap i thought. I,v drove Yanmer zero Cat zero and Kubota zero swing and visabilty wasnt great outa any of them. another we problem i found (but likely me being fussy) you cant pull the dipper in against the blade. And i always like to pull the last bucket full against it when cleaning up. All the above makes had this same problem. When you buckle the offset around you can get closer to the blade.

Sean Thankfully were knocking out not so bad. The building game over here is up shit creek. Just the very odd new build or extension going on. and the odd farmer that wants abita work done. We always tryed to stay around this kind of work and didnt venture off into big construction projects when the times were good. We've diffenetly noticed a slow up in the work over the past few years. But we ave a decent enuff customer base gatherd up. And hopefully we'l get enuff work to keep us going. (and maybe enuff money saved to buy a tilt rotate)
