Not sure why those photos wouldn't upload in the right orientation? As the first two did?

I know! Time flies when your having fun!
Still trying to get used to remembering to take the pics! As has been said by many , sometimes our daly tasks don't seem like they'd interest anyone but in truth we are all doing something different to each other and those mundane moments may be of interest?

Been super busy recently with some jobs that don't involve much plant, joys of taking on different kinds of work, no two days the same, just finished a automatic watering system in a private garden, including a pump system as its fed by a pond, that really has been a break from the norm!

Busy time of year also getting ready for harvest and making sure the lime we spread is prepared and ready to go when the time comes, we never know when we will start spreading or how much we will do or when we will finish! As 95% of jobs will be organised at harvest time, it's really difficult to plan around it.
Here's a pic of me screening the lime the other week, I will try and get a few tomorrow, unless I can find any on my phone?

Everyone thinks it will be white! And I wish it was, it would stop people thinking we are tipping loads of sand all over the place

It is lime, and is was once white. It starts its life in Derbyshire, it is then delivered in powder tankers to our local water works as a high quality finely ground limestone, where it is used to purify and filter drinking water, it is white when it goes in and it's the process they use that alters the colour.

When they have finished with it its then pumped into lagoons to settle, that's where we get involved. After the lagoons are full we dig them out, the lime is usually a thick sludge at this point or like a cake if your lucky , slurry if your not, then we dry it by turning it with excavators, then screen it, the screening helps to dry it further and removes any debris cought up in it from digging it out of the lagoons. It take five to six years to complete a cycle.

It never really loses its yellow tinge but the dryer it gets the lighter it is, but it will never go white again.

Yep we use a screening bucket for some of it and also use an old Parker elevator with a grid on it. Elevator is best for stockpiling but the bucket is the best for screening and we put all we can through it if poss.

Maybe it's time I started that photo thread..........?
