Default Kubota Kx080 'Wide Boy!'

I know many will have seen the story of the construction of my LGP Kubota on the HEF, but for others here is the spec and a few pics to show you what it's all about.

2009 Kubota kx080 supplied by BTE Plant Sales with 450mm steel tracks and quick hitch pipework only (valve and pipes to dipper end, no actual hitch)

Modifications by BTE.
Hydraulic fluid replaced for Biodegradeable (Fuchs Planto)

Engine oil replaced with Biodegradeable (Fuchs Planto)

Cab Guards by Tanmill, and the latest quick fit Mesh Screen Guard also by Tanmill.

Modifications by John Craig Contracting

Full Low Ground Pressure conversion, including fitting of 900mm Track pads, widening of frame, increasing ground clearance by 5" and fitting of two flanged bottom rollers to the top of each side frame in place of the standard single roller. The blade was also extended to the full width of the machine.
This has resulted in the machine now being 9' 6" wide for easy transport, and actually becoming zero tailswing.

In addition a 13,00kg line pull Superwinch H30p hydraulic winch was mounted to the track frame. It is controlled from the two speed tracking button on the blade and the blade lever itself.
John craig also provided the facility to pull the cable under the machine via a bar and pulley arrangement (pic required to explain fully), thus enabling winching either end.

A Full Engcon Tiltrotator system was fitted including Proportional Controls, Integral Grabber and Quick Hitches top and bottom.

An Engcon shaped Hardox Grading bucket was also supplied.

Immediately after I also purchased from JCC an Engcon Selector Grab and Osma Semi Forestry Mower.

In addition 5 (Butchered ) Buckets 12" up to 42" were supplied by Harford.

Sorry no Cupholders were added at this time!

Pleased to say all is working well, with only a few niggles with a track Master pin that is going to get well and truly sorted tomorrow!

There is a slight issue with the Auxiliary Couplings on the Engcon being very Vulnerable to damage (only broke one!), but I'll be looking at this shortly.

It has been well received by end users and is a capable little machine.

Thanks
Eddie.

Hi Eddie, that is a very one off smart machine you have there. I have been watching it with great interest on HEF. Before you went with Kubota, did you try any other machines ie the Komatsu PC88 MR-6? I believe you have done the right choice to specialise in a certain area of work ie conservation. There is a great deal of funding in this line of work. Is the work with the flailmower and tree work going to dry up owing to the bird nesting season. I used to do a bit of conservation work and scrub clearance and used to have to stop in the third week of March and not start again until October. I also have notice on HEF that you have been talking about the thumbs on excavators in America. I myself cannot see why they are not used overhere as I think they would be an ideal set up for this type of work ie land clearing etc. I came across this clip on youtube that might be of interest to you with a thumb mounted on a midi excavator. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yprl3...eature=related) I also did read a few months ago that Bobcat are going to start selling their range of midi and mini escavators in the UK with a hydraulic thumb - be interested to see how this takes off. Best of luck in your new venture.

Most operators in this country can load buckets and pick up logs and pipes without a thumb ....don't try to tell them otherwise .
I think that grapples and grabs have taken hold here now and it's them or buckets. Bobcat have been selling excavators in this country for years or did you mean just the thumbs ?

Am not disagreeing with that BUT it's a lot easier , faster and safer with a thumb. Bobcat have been selling their machines for years in the uk but not with hydraulic thumbs.

Eddie, eddie, eddie! No cup holder??? Lol

what a great spec, i have 25 12000lb winches at my yard that i got in a bulk load, hadnt considered fitting one to a machine but what a useful addition, im copying that!

The tiltrotator is a great looking bit of kit, not cheap id imagine but so useful, how do you find it to control? Id love that too!

Very jealous

Full Spec i am sure yr right and im sure there are many jobs the thumb can be a benifit to. I don't like the idea of the thing rattleing around when i wasn't using it. My design for a 4 in1 excavator bucket if produced would be my best attachment.
